Divorce can be a painful experience as people have limited capacity to accommodate rejection or the feelings associated with the breakdown of the relationship.

We will offer a supportive, sympathetic and constructive approach to reaching a fair and reasonable settlement, with firmness deployed alongside the courtesy that helps progress.

“Divorce” is the term applied to the legal dissolution of the marriage. This is often done by agreement if both parties agree that the marriage is finished. It is well worth keeping stress, cost and delay to a minimum.

Finances: most of the disputes and the work necessary to resolve them relate to money.

The best approach is to analyse the facts dispassionately, and consider what the learned Judge would order at the end of the case – then bring that forward much nearer to the start and implement it by agreement or by using legitimate tactical pressures to seek agreement. This will save stress and costs.

Your instructions in relation to finances will be carefully assessed by us, and normally set out in full detail in Form E.

You can save a great deal of costs if you complete Form E and collate the documents that are required to accompany it. Please look at HMCTS – Court Forms – Divorce – Form E to find the form and consider/complete it.

In all cases it is prudent for us to request Form E from your spouse so that full, fair disclosure of finances and the documents in support is made. We are best placed to do this by proposing exchange of these – so ours should be ready at an early convenient time.

We will advise in writing in all cases.
